The conference helped to develop a clearer picture of what is happening at national level in this regard, as well as to encourage an exchange of best practice and gather examples of collective agreements which promote diversity and anti-discrimination in the workplace. It also facilitated networking among trade unionists and with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) across Europe.
Some 80 trade unionists, experts from NGOs and policymakers participated at this first Europe-wide trade union conference on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights and discussed ways to improve trade union attractiveness and performance in this area.
